food label fun

Just a couple of not-too-deep thoughts regarding food labels. And a lot of glare.

I don’t know why milk expires a week faster in NYC, but it does. Maybe it’s that whole New York Minute business. Or, more likely, some past bit of nanny-statism and our too-bored City Council. This is not a current milk, by the way. The current milks are due mid-October.

The featured guest at last night’s dinner. Season sardines in olive oil, in a brand new easy-to-open can that, of course, wasn’t. (Bring back the key cans!) Ingredients include sardines, olive oil, and salt. Also, there is a health warning that the product contains fish. To which my immediate reaction was “I should hope so!”….
